57 Congreso Internacional Encuentro Anual de SECOLAS 2010Tema: "Memoria y Revolución"Ciudad de México, abril 7-10, 2010 Del 7 al 10 de abril de 2010 se realizarán el Congreso Internacional 57 y el Encuentro Anual del Southeastern Council of Latin American Studies (SECOLAS) en la Ciudad de México. Las instituciones organizadoras son SECOLAS y el Instituto de Investigaciones Dr. José María Luis Mora, un centro líder en la investigación en historia y ciencias sociales. La sede del encuentro será el Instituto Mora Plaza en Mixcoac. SECOLAS es una organización apolítica y sin fines de lucro de individuos interesados en América Latina. Sus objetivos son la promoción del interés en América Latina, la investigación académica sobre América Latina en todos los campos, y el establecimiento de contactos amistosos entre los pueblos de las Américas. SECOLAS realiza un encuentro anual en cada primavera, en el cual se presentan ponencias y se realizan otras actividades. Del mismo modo, la ocasión se aprovecha para realizar el encuentro regular de los miembros de la Asociación. El Congreso Internacional 57 explora el tema “Memoria y Revolución”. El encuentro es el espacio académico ideal para debatir las investigaciones recientes sobre América Latina. El encuentro tiene 140 participantes confirmados, provenientes de Estados Unidos y varios países latinoamericanos El encuentro es un esfuerzo colectivo que dará forma a la agenda de investigación futura sobre la región. El reconocido historiador, académico y periodista mexicano Lorenzo Meyer, profesor-investigador de El Colegio de México, impartirá la conferencia magistral del encuentro, titulada: "México y Estados Unidos: las etapas de una relación tormentosa". SECOLAS and Instituto de Investigaciones Dr. José María Luis Mora, a leading research center on history and social sciences in Mexico, are the organizers of the Conference. The Conference venue will be the Plaza see of Instituto Mora in Mixcoac. SECOLAS is a non-political and non-profit association of individuals interested in Latin America. Its objectives are the promotion of interest in Latin America, scholarly research pertaining to Latin America in all fields, and the increase of friendly contacts among the peoples of the Americas. SECOLAS holds one annual meeting each spring, at which scholarly papers and other activities are presented, as well as the business meeting of members. The 57th Annual Conference explores the theme “Memory and Revolution”. The Meeting will be the ideal academic forum to debate on-going research on Latin America. As of now the Conference has 140 participants, coming from the United States and several Latin American countries. The Conference is a collective effort that will definitely shape the future research agenda on the region.
